2 Canadian Northern Railway Hotel System Hotel 197 Excepting at Ashcroft, going out, when it was 96 degrees, all day, in our car, the temperature was delightful. I was in Winnipeg only a few hours: long enough to pack a trunk & catch a train for New York - an awfully hot trip, I can assure you, and the heat was intense all the time I was there - 10 days in the city & at Loch Arbour, where I spent three days, & enjoyed the bathing very much. I wrote to "Elizabeth" - (begging her pardon for the liberty with her name) - that I w? be in New York on Saturday, the 4th, and w? telephone to know when I might come & call on her - as I would be leaving for Toronto, on Sunday, the 5th. When I went to Wall Street I found a 'phone message from her, saying she was coming into town & asking me to meet her, at 1:30, for luncheon, at
