My dear Dodie
Your most welcome and interesting letter arrived only yesterday and will answer at once while we are in rest billets. We are having a devil of a time these days and the Canadians have done fine work but the toll was heavy. The 29th were inspected this morning by General Turner and the Battalion looked fine in their steel helmets and new clothes. I went over to the 7th Battalion lines yesterday and saw Jack Kennedy and he had some great experiences his first time in the front line. Francis Grovesnor is going on a months course tomorrow and we all envy him as he will be a whole month out
