To be our turn, but it will be sooner or later. The men are splendid, quite cheery. I think when we attack they will do well, but it is very hard to say; if the Germans get their [illegible] on you, you have no chance to do anything - You would laugh to see us sometimes. When we go up at night the Germans send up big flares, sort of star shells - immediately you see one of them you all flop down and bury yourself in the mud, no matter how muddy, then wait until it's dark again.

The other night when visiting my posts at the trenches, the boys had the laugh on me. We always go out two together in case of accidents - Well two of my posts were not connected up & we had to
