Captain Crease

SECRET

2nd Canadian Division A.Q.S. 4-25.

ADMINISTRATIVE INSTRUCTIONS ISSUED IN CONNECTION WITH 2nd CANADIAN DIVISION OPERATION ORDER 243 dated 19th July, 1918.

1. The Division, less 5th Canadian Inf. Brigade which will be bussed and Divisional Artillery and certain transport which is procedding by Marc. route will entrain in accordance with the attached Entrainment Table.

2. ENTRAINING STATIONS:

BOVES, WAVRANS, LONGUEAU, FREVENT

3. The D.A.A.G.(A) (Lt-Col . SPRY) will supervise the entrainment and the D.A.Q.E.G. (Major RISPIN). will supervise the detrainment.

The 6th Cdn. Inf. Bde. will detail 1 Officer of the Brigade Staff and 2 runners for entraining duty at LONGBEAU.

The 4th Canadian Inf. Bde. will detail 1 Officer of the Brigade Staff adn 2 runners for entraining duty at BOVES.

4. A personnel train consists of: 2 Brake vans (for railway personnel only). 44 Third class coaches (1 old 40 men each in Marching order). 2 First class coaches. 2 covered goods wagons (38 for personnel, 2 coaches, 2 brake vans, 2 covered wagons)

An Omnibus train consists of 1 passenger coach. 30 covered wagons 17 flats (each carry four axles. 2 Brake vans (for railway personnel only) (200 short)

5. Each Battalion will detail a picquet of 1 Officer and 20 N.C.O.s and men, and each other unit a Picquet of 1 Sergeant, 2 Corporals and 8 men. These Picquets will report to the Entraining Staff Officer at the station immediately on arrival of the unit. They will be on duty during the journey and until the unit has completed its detraining. The Picquets will be posted under instructions of the Entraining Staff Officer to prevent men wandering away or leaving the train after entrainment .

At intermediate stations, where the train stops, the Picquet will be used to prevent men leaving the train, except to ease themselves.

6. The whole of the transport of each unit will arrive at the Entraining station 3 hours before the train is due to leave.

All Infantry and Engineer Battalions and other units are to be at the Entraining Station 1-1/2 hours prior to the departure of the trains.

The Entrainment of Units must be completed 1/2 hour before the train is due to start.

7. CAPACITY OF TRAINS - There is only accommodation on the trains for vehicles and animals up to the establishments laid down. There will, therefore, be no room for surplus vehicles, etc.
