Yes the war new these days is splendid, and may continue so; though it will take many such efforts to bring the Hun to terms. He's yet a long way west of the Rhine. The other day several of us went up to the front line, or as near as we would (for the Hun was retiring just there) to see for ourselves what it was like. We really went to look for a Hun machine we shot down in the vicinity and took the opportunity of seeing war "as she is done" on the ground. The bullets were no bother as we were under cover but the shells passing over and bursting beyond us make the creeps up and down my back. The Tommies, who are used to it, did not seem to mind much and I felt somewhat foolish
