Dearest Mother:-
Here we are about half way across the Atlantic - and no submarines yet. I am afraid you will be expecting my cable about this time; but it will be about four days yet before this letter can start back to you and in the meantime I will have cabled immediately on my arrival so you will hear of my arrival long before this letter reaches you.
There are [illegible] in this convoy, under the sheltering wing of a good old [illegible], and we are steaming slowly along at almost ten knots an hour. When we get
