Picton fell is shown. Monuments in churches pay two francs to go in. Great shame. Pay everywhere. Charmed with Waterloo for particulars apply to [illegible] Bradshaw. Returned [illegible] at 1/2 past 4. Very tired. Walked in the park, very pleasant. Guide excellent.

Saturday 16. Took a walk round the principle streets. Saw the cathedral of St. [illegible]. Admire it immensely. Style Gothic. A magnificent pulpit of carved oak, representing Adam & Eve being thrust out of Eden, the angels overhead & death peeping through the foliage. It is a remarkable thing. A funeral service was going on while we there. saw lovely lace & a splendid dress covered with white lace. must evidently be an order. Bought some little trifles. Stated for Cologne at 1/2 past 12. Country interesting. Passed Liege & Aux la Chapelle. Smuggled Jaco through. day very warm. reached Cologne at 6.30. Secured rooms at Hotel Du Nord. Excellent. Highly recommended.

Sunday. Visited cathedral. Magnificent for parks. look in Bradshaw page 397. Drove about town. Start for Wiesbaden at 1/2 [illegible] A.M. Skirt along the banks of the Rhine. Stopped at Bonn. Crossed the river there in a large iron vessel. An exciting proceeding.
