The salmon are divided into sockeyes, silver humpbacks, dog, etc and a most peculiar thing directly they get into fresh water they get a hooked nose on them and also a humpback. The principle wild animals on the mainland and island are panther, bear, wolf, wolverine, lynx, skunk, fox, wild sheep and goats, elk, martin, raccoon, etc also birds will be found in great quantities all kinds of waterfowl, blue and willow grouse, quail, pheasants (English) etc. Pheasants were imported from England and are now spreading over the island. Victoria the capital on the Southern extremity of Vancouver Island is very prettily situated and like a regular old English town. You will find businesses now coming down at
