Oct 3rd. We go around the collieries today see them dumping coal into the cars; and cars coming up full with coal from the mine. There are 5 shafts at Union; cars generally hold about 10 tons and train after train leaves with coal for Victoria where it is selling at 5½$ a ton; so as it is cheap people are laying in their winter supply;
