Set 17th. Exploring and viewing the lay of the country. Two packers start off to the Crown mountain to help pack the stuff out as they leave Buttles Lake on the 21th.

Sept 18th. Fine day. Two more packers start to help in the march homewards everyone feels as if they want to get back to civilization once more.

Sept 19th. Go to Union for sundries have a splendid sail down Comox Lake which is 10 miles long and 1½ wide in the shape of a horseshoe.

Sept 20th. The watchmaker and two miners arrive in camp as they are camped opposite us on a fishing trip. The former a man about 5ft 3in is very amusing telling us all his experiences and misfortunes
