74/ commissariat man arrives to get another list of supplies; reports things flourishing down at Comox Lake.

Aug 20th. Two packers got to Buttles lake with H----n to carry mail; they get into some yellow jackets (or wasps) nests and get pretty badly stung. They are a great nuisance in the woods just now as the bear dig them up and make the wasps mad, consequently they go for anyone coming near the nests.

Aug 21th. Fine day; sewing on buttons & celebrate my mothers 55 birthday by getting the cook to make a syrup roly poly pudding and drink her health in choice Pekin tea I should very much like to peep in & see her today.
