of blankets out of the surveyor's tent foolishly the tent door was left open they did not visit our tents which were tied up. We go back to second lake.

Aug 9th. Today we go over Divide for packs as we are getting packs down to Buttles faster than can keep us going. This is the hardest trip of all climbing 2000 ft with 60 lbs of grub on one's back we get back about 5 p.m.

Aug 10th. No packs so stay in camp all day. All hands arrive at noon as line crosses above our camp; so they will be here at nights for a few days.

Aug 11th. Go to Buttles with packs. Three Comox miners arrive to prospect the hills around the
