May 6th. Running a line across a valley from side hill today, cross a swift stream which we call "Rapid Creek" while working on we come across a [?] of small rocks, resembling very much a [?], we are determined [?] it up to see what is under it. Maybe it is hidden treasure; we come home about 5 p.m. having done some 1/2 mile today. May 7th. Working away come across lots of deer today and few grouse: they seem very wild one would think not having seen an individual before they would not mind so much; run our line across one or two small swamps causing the chain men to soak their feet whereas the axemen are more fortunate as they can go round these wet places; May 8th.
