XII horses to move our camp once more to another lake marked on the chart as "Great Central Lake". This is a long lake some 20 to 21 miles long and from 1 mile to 2 miles wide: the hills come precipitously down to the waters edge: being about 150 to 200 ft above sea level: any amount of beaver seem to be busy at work along the "alders". Everything is got to lake by dark. We [teane ?] leaves the wagon behind being unable to get [?] for the [tires ?] and so we are delayed some time.

April 19th Today we get into snow 10 ft deep altho hard as a road in some places one occassionally falls thro and has to be hauled out as best we can: trees are blazed away up among the branches so if snow ever melts and any one takes a walk over these hills they will thinks they must have all been giants on this survey
