Diary of a Chain Man on a Government Survey on Vancouver Island

Tuesday March 27th

Starting from Victoria, Vancouver's Island with a Surveyor and fifteen Men, for the purpose of completing a Survey commenced two years previous, defining the line between the Dunsmuir Grant from the Government land: we were landed at Alberni by the C. P. W. Co Steamer Maude on the 29th instant.

Monday, March 28th Has passed visiting some Dog fishing stations and in landing supplies for some sealing schooners: three or four of these schooners were waiting in the bay for fine weather: proceeding afterwards we landed at the flourishing town of Alberni.

Tuesday, March 29th Where we landed our supplies warehousing them for the night on the wharf: we then split up into two and two and visited the places of interest in the aforesaid settlement: (Alberni is on the west coast of Vancouver Island: about 100 miles north of Victoria at the head AAAA1452 File 1 Ogilby, William Law Diary 27 Mar to 8 Oct 1892
