Went over front line with two of the 1st Field Coy CE - Ross & decided on & got distances & courses for shortening 137-138 - Ross & I cruise shortcut from Dragoon Alley to Boyle Farm Exciting run in open field in full view of two German trenches on Messines slope -- Sergt of 13th lying waiting for burial at La Plus Douve Fme -- man bro't in on stretcher - got by two bullets - four wounds - Get foresights by holding cap on bayonet above parapet Our front trench knocked down two places yesterday - like a pack of cards - only one hurt.
