23 1916 31 Days 16 Thursday (76-290) (16 to 19) March On Duty - Write to Findley, Agnes, Young + Mrs. Elliott Steamer "Heliopolis" Towed out. Bot by Govt. for CA (pound sign) 55 000 beginning of war + left lying unused ever since at Pembroke Dock. Now resold to original owners for (pound sign) 105 000 - only case extant of Government making money. Receive (pound sign) 6 from Wallace Young.
17 Friday (77-289)
St. Patrick, Bank Holiday, Ireland. Ember Day Walk to Marloes Beach in morning. Afternoon with colonel in motor with Scotch Thrift refuses to believe he can be short of petrol - Take an hour to start - miss stone wall at Foot of Dale Hill by 1/4 - smash hood against doctor's house - Misfire on hill returning + are there 2 hours - with large assemblage of soldiers assisting.

Ember Day On Duty - Lt. Jones tell Mrs. Mockridge's sister that kissing corporals on guard is detrimental to discipline etc. but she is unabashed + says the corporal is a "nice young man and kissing is a part of courting. Court of Enquiry sits on the smash-up of the colonel's motor.
