Go to Pascalls, 101 Blackfriars Road. Enquire my way & a young chap insists on guiding me for a mile. - Says he was turned down for the army & wants to help a bit - many New Zealanders & Australians about- sing out "Hello Canada" at me. Sydney Pascall a tall, clever-looking chap- Gives me a long interview & dictates a letter of introduction to Maj. Gen Sir Desmond O'Callaghan - a RE now looking after explosives - Shown all over the factory & warehouses-about 500 girls employed candy-making. - One girl wearing a regimental badge evidently burning to speak to me-turns out her sweetheart was wounded at Loos-she gives me the military salute very prettily. Canadian soldiers seem to be rather more popular over here now.
