Wednesday October 27th King George + the Prince of Wales pass through here today on their way to a review at [Loche ?]. But I am relief at the office and cannot get out to see them. Rather a miserable day + probably the troops were kept standing for a long time at attention in the rain. Effect of bursting shell on Muskrat Mound was a throwing up of a large quantity of earth, sandbags, sods, timber, lighter stakes + what appeared to be a little wine. If there is any concrete it was not seen. The fire did not succeed in removing the steel plate. It is thought that whatever may be the internal construction (concrete or otherwise) there is a great quantity of earth + sandbags, which will have to be blown away before the inner shell is reached. German working parties were busy yesterday afternoon repairing damage done on this work.
