Get object lesson on how commissions are obtained - Gen. Leckie sees candidate from 16th - Colonel does not recommend but quite willing to grant the man his discharge - very willing! - Coy. officer states - This man formerly was lance-corporal - was reduced to the ranks for incompetency - therefore I cannot recommend him - Gen. Leckie writes Bio - I have seen the man and endorse the opinion of his Coy. officer as to his non-suitability - Hear later that this man's commission is being engineered from Canada and he will probably get it in the face of Gen.
