Sunday 21 [52-313] Quadragesima At Halifax in ca all morning, leaving our kits on wharf - men start stentorian shouts of "We want a walk" as the Colonel passes & as results get a short run. Board "Missanabie" (13000 tons) 2p

Monday 22 [53-312] Put in a 7x12 hole with 5 others on "F" Deck At anchor in Harbor all day.

Tuesday 23 [54-311] Leave Port 10 am - "Megantic" "Vaderland" & "Missanabie" escorted by cruiser "Essex" By noon 20 knots Lat. 44 degrees 19 62 degrees 56'W Kick about our quarters, but nothing done Canteen opens - 7000 bottles of beer sold Voyage 56

Wednesday 24 [55-310] St. Matthias Middleton, Goodrich: I find an empty cabin & move in, orders to the contrary 1700 on board - 500 30th Bn remainder 23rd (Quebec) I get inoculated - have a high fever all night aggravated by a Tendency to seasickness Course Indirect noon - knots 307 Lat. 43 degrees 00 Long. 56 degrees 05
