Turnbull's Letter from the Trenches 8th Apr./15 "Army Regulations, huh! They gave us half-an-hour's saluting drill the other day" On the firing line, salute! Good Lord. Somebody's prestige undoubtedly had been jarred by a brute of a P.P.C.L.I. neglecting to pay due respect to waking authority. Hence the brilliant and edifying spectacle of a bunch of Trench-stained men "saluting by numbers" Wouldn't it jar you? "Your King and Country need you" -- for the purpose of pandering to some damn fool's vanity." Regiment (88th) marches through town - afternoon parade to an officer's wedding.
