My dear "Parents."

I sent you off a p.c. this a.m. Mother, from the port we landed at, just to let you know that I was going strong, had a very good trip across the channel, & arrived in good shape, the boats are very fast, & one gets across in a very short time. Unfortunately one cant tell half that one would like to, & I will have to be extremely careful what I say these days, as I don't want to be brought up on a Court Martial, it would be rather a bad start to make! Well here I am in "La France" at last, am feeling very glad & bucked to have got over, and in fairly decent time too as officers coming from Canada usually put in about six months training there, so can consider myself lucky to have got off with five months, however I believe we have to
