Dear Mother,

Here I am at one of Sholto's favourite old haunts, I only wish I could run across him, it must be nearly a month since he left East Africa now, so he must be getting fairly near Eng. again. This is a very fine hotel and charges really quite moderate as things go these days, everything though over here seems just double what it was in peacetime. I wish I had come here before
