I had a fairly good time in Malta except for the dose of malaria; it's very interesting though one soon tires of it. The weather was rather trying, very sultry and it made you feel clammy all day.

I lunched with Lord Methuen one day out at San Antonio; he is a very decent man and Lady Methuen seemed charming too. They have a splendid place out there, I should say palace as he is the Governor. Orange groves galore and palm trees and various tropical plants etc. I was hustled off from Malta so quickly
