April 16th Rotten weather. Very busy all day. Lieu Webb called & took tea with me. Rotten rations.

April 17th Got up at 4 A.M. Sent 16 men to DUISANS. Raining heavily. Busy all day. Rotten rations.

April 18th. Snowing again. Rotten day. Very busy on rounds & Orderly Room. Wrote Janet Lory. Tried prisoners. French capture wood.

April 19th Very heavy artillery fire all night & all day. Also explosions, probably around LENS, most violent. Very busy all day. Had letter from Jessie. Still rotten weather.

April 20th Cycled to H.Q. to try prisoner before the C.O. then on to AVESNES. Saw Capt Thomas R.E. & the Colonel. Back for lunch. Very busy on rounds in afternoon. Capt McMillin called on me for an hour or two. Had a letter from Marjorie & T.C. [illegible] A nice sunny day. What a change. Very heavy bombardment going on in the morning & all through the night.
