DEAR SIR OR MADAM,—

From the enclosed Circular regarding Canadian Prisoners of War, you will see that owing tot he impossibility of carrying on the adoption system, it has been decided to do away with same.

The Canadian Red Cross Society will continue, as heretofore, sending six food parcels monthly tho every Canadian soldier who is a prisoner, also clothing, tobacco, bread, games, etc. It is estimated that this will cost the Society $200 per year for every prisoner.

As a District Centre this Branch has undertaken to guarantee the amount required to pay the cost of all parcels sent to men who resided in the District under its jurisdiction prior to enlistment.

To do this it will be necessary to have the continued support of all our subscribers who have so generously contributed to the upkeep of this fund in the past.

May we still count on your help in the future for this worthy object?

All contributions should be sent to this office and a list of subscriptions will appear in the newspapers twice a months along with the names of the prisoners under our care who have sent acknowledgements to Headquarters.
