Dear Mother: Gee but I haven't had a letter from you for over three weeks, but the mail is coming very irregular we never know when it is coming. Some days it never comes but maybe today Ill get quite a few letters. I usually am pretty [?] in the mail line. have not got [?] parcel but day before yesterday got a dandy from Laura Greer. Well we are still in this quiet old place. We get a turn up to the war as the boys call it about once every blue noon. Say it is that quiet with the star shells going up around in a kind of half circle in front of you that it is kind of uncanny they have seen four shells burst from our gun pits since we took the position over and then not one of them was meant for us. there is a lot of trench mortar work going on so the [Inf.?] have there hands full.
