Have not heard from Duff for a long time but I owe him a letter. Both Wynnie and Mary1 write that he made a good speech in Winnipeg and refer to the Halibut story. It is a good one, but if not happen in Rupert. It was Kenny Macrae's hopeful who got it off and I think I gave it to Duff. He has made splendid use of it, a good sing. I wonder how the Brewster2 government is getting along. Someone wrote that he first cam out solid for conscription but later on backed up Sir Wilfred3.

Saw a letter from Sir

1 Mary Davenport Pattulo Lownsbrough (1882-1958), James' younger sister

2 Harlan Carey Brewster, the 18th premier of B.C.

3 Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the 7th Prime Minister of Canada
