Since I wrote to you last, I have moved round a bit. Like poor Joe in Bleak House I am allways moving on. From Seaford I asked for a transfer to the Railroad Troops, which was granted, and I were sent from there to Purfleet. At Purfleet I were asked to go up to Epsom to make some repairs. I am through here, was asked to stay and take charge of a bake-oven, one of those patent German ones. I have put up similar ones in Chicago and [illegible] have managed all right but dont like them. This one is one that has to be wakked pretty close. It has been blown up three times on account of accumulation of gas causes by "leaky pans". I am promised to be sent back to the Railroad outfit again, and the captain in charge told me there wanted
