Dear Fred your verry welcome letter and interresting notes just received and immensley appreciated. Am sorry to see the Quartz Deal didn't go through. Well it is something to have brought the matter up before outside Capitalist and after the war, there is bound to be something doing. I am at the present stationed at Purpleet, have transfered over to the Railroaders and are in hope to go over to France in a short time. After the 24th Reserve broke up, I were put to work farming, And for the last 3 months, I have been verry busy breaking up all spare ground [zourer] the camp in Seaford and planting it in Potatoes, Turnips, Cabage, Carrots and other [bruck], and ar [w..ger] to get about 4 1/2 acres under cultivation for the 1st Reserve alone, which is going to help some. The other Battns have done lots of planting to and will all come in verry usefull
