The fact is I wee taken on the Expeditionerry Force as a trained Soldier with one of the best Rifle cors in the batttallion, and when I came here I had some verry hard training, but am at the present time quarautined on account of mumps with the staff in the orderly Room ( The Battallion OR), where I am night orderly and am classified in the category BI,fit for France but not for the trenches, as they think I cant stand the wet and other hardships of the Trenches. Of course when a man gets to be 46 ( I were 45 when I enlisted) The Circulation is not as good as it is with a younger man but I am used to water and cold water at that (externally, We had a verry nice trip across the ocean. I didnot see any 'U' Boat, but am told they were in sight one day. We had to wear life belts all day, at meals and on Deck, even at the concert, and used them for a pillow at night. The grub on the boat was not extra good, but not to bad. The grub here is better than could be expected in wartime and with the"U" boat blockade, plenty to wastfulnes. I am afraid we throw more stuff away, to the man, than the German Soldiers gets all together.
