Dear Friend Fred

Just a line or two to let you know that we are still here in France and getting along as good as can be expected for the kind of a country we are in and also the kind of climate at this season of the year it is certainly about as miserable a climate in the winter as one could find rain or snow all the time and you can imagine where there is as much traffic both motor and horse veicles what sort of condition things get in for mud but still we seem to get accustomed to it and carry on the same as though it were dry. I haven't seen anything of the Brierly boys or heard from Scotty Gilchrist since I wrote last I think I told you in my last letter about being on leave to Paris I met Mickey Mercer and there and he told me that he didn't think that Scotty had any bones
