Dear Fred

Thank you for both letters; The first sent to Eastbourne & sent on at once & the second dated June 6/18 which I got today, after I got back frm 10 days landing leave which I spent at Eastbourne. Had a real enjoyable time & good WX. Though I saw a most wonderful exebit of lightening. I never saw any thing befor near so grand. It was very distant & no noise or rain. But for a grand display it beat the greatest bombardment I ever saw. Partly because it was behind a heavy bank of cloud; but it showed up the most extraordinary shades of light mostly a new red. It was at 11 p.m.

I am very pleased to know that Ward won. Hope the case is settled now for good. Your many items of news are very interesting. It certainly was a rotten shame to so severely fine J. House also it was a foolish thing, fm a save food point. The Cariboo that are shot are nothing compared to those that die from other causes
