good women knowing There is one consoling fact in all this evil experience. My Co. Officer showed he was an English Gentleman of the higher standard & tried his very best to give me & did do so a square deal & over also the Co Segt Major was very kind & helpfull The Col. also is the same type of man but is an old soldier & thinks that it is never right to refuse to obey a military order & it was not in the least a Military order that I refused to obey. I have learned one thing by this experience It explaned to me why there are so many confirmed defaulters in the British army. If you get into the hands of a certain type (too common) of military police you must indeed be either a cur without spirit or a big souled man to come out of it with a willingness to still do what is right & carrry on. The system is too debaseing to improve even those that have committed a military crime. I hope to forget much of it but at present I hardly feel fit to go home & meet my sisters & other decent old & new friends. Even if my Segt Major did say he wished to God he had 500 like me Regards to all of you I am Yours Very Truly Ernest Seeley
