Of course we all want to get home & to have done with this Killing & being killed & maimed But for my part I do not want it bad enough to want to quit untill we have done up Fritz & be in proper style. Nothing less is safe & I think our greatest danger time will come when Fritz begins to offer some cheap & unsatisfactory peace terms. That will encourage the few peace agitators we have & most likely cause fresh troubles in the Russian army. Then we must be stiff & as far as lies in our power call for a carry on policy. Any thing else than restitution to Beligum & Serbia will be a disgrace to us Britons & to the U.S. if we consent to it. It looks just now as if Austria might be nearing her finish. but she has a lot to loose so may hang on yet
