Cpl E. Seeley April 25/16 489697 & Co 1 Canadian Pioneers Shorncliffe Dear Fred. First let me say I am writing this under great difficulties. We are shamefully overworked here & only half fed. no one would belive what I could tell unless they were here to see it. We are not learning much that will help us to defend our selfs against a german. But are kept on the hop for from 12 to 18 hours a day doing guards & police [picquch]& fatigues I have been Orderly Cpl for 19 days & that means here up at 5 a,m, & bed at 10 to 1030 p.m. & on the double half of the time. However I managed to get 6 days leave after it & am now back at it again. I think I should have gone bug house if I had not got off. I had a splendid time at home. Too good. I miss it so much now I am back. I had a dread that I should be out of touch with my Sisters & Brothers but it was not so & 3 minutes after I got to the house I felt as if I had never been away & we all felt so. You can immagine how a Soldier fared with 3 good & good women to look after him. I am almost of a mind to stay here if I should get out of this war all right We had an uneventfull trip on train.8 day; close prisners in the cars not even a Cpl
