BATT 3 COMPANY 2/ Jack Westover is a good soldier & in earnest about it does not drink We were out to Sidney for a few days field work & I got what I though was a nasty deal both from our Platoon commander. a C. officer who I dont like because he does not like me & is very unfair & is very unfair & also from our 1st Platoon Sergent who I like but who is like Grain to eager to be a good fellow & the an who is the bigest toady gets too many favours. I made up my mind to get out, cleanly if I could but get out anyhow As good luck had it. I got word a few days afterward of a tuneling unit being organized who that the right to take any man who volunteered out of any other unit. I finaly got into comunication with the O.C. of the unit Big Jim McDonell I beleve it is he wired me at once to report in Vancouver I showed his telegram to Capt Nicholson O.C. our Co he tried hard to get me to stay but I insisted I wanted to go so he had to take my Telegram to our Col Ross, Col Ross actually sent Linel Cook of Prince George to ask me to withdraw my transfer, as Linel Cook said perhaps such a think had not happened in any force before as the O.C. of a Batttallion sending
