& my book must not have a speck of mud on. Still the army is a fine clean life & I am very proud & pleased to be in it. I think a few of the boys are regreting thier enlistment, but I realy cant see any reason. our food is still well cooked & is enough & now it is much better as regards a seat as each platoon has two tables of 24 men each I have charge of one with Worth at the other end but so far he has not helped me a stranger sat next to him & he never said a word but the man whose place he had came to me & I had to go & order him away he went off at once & since that I see all my men seated before I sit myself You can understand that with 1100 men going into one building to eat at one time unless one is strict it is all up. the Cook Sergent is a wonderfull man I think. he has a 100 complains a day many foolish some spitefull to try & get him into trouble & a few just where some table had been over looked or gone short at one end because the other end hogged to much & the food is delt out very correctly & there is not much wast & if a few are greedy the rest go short, with a careless Corporal at the end
