Sept 25/15 SS. Prince Rupert Dear Fred, There is not much to tell you that is of interest so now is the easy time to write. We left Quesnell amid a storm of noise & to my surprise one or two men who I least suspected of it, shed tears, There tear sheding ones were those that were staying behind as was proper, My mind was busy thinking of the poor devils who were compelled to stay behind against their wishes. The Quesnell people gave us a good time as far as lay in there power. John Hall especially went to a lot of trouble on our behalf & as far as I could see, it was just because he was with us in heart & spirit &chance for the Empires soldiers. At Sout Fort George we were well recieved in a quiet way & shown a lot of kindness & the clerk in the
