though we hope to get it tomorrow. I haven't had my breeches or shirt off since I left Sandling a week ago, but tomorrow I'm going down town to get a bath & buy some socks & shirts etc. Luckily I brought a small haversack with me containing shaving tackle etc. We may get furniture in the officers rooms in a week or so - at present they contain nothing but blankets, a form, a tin bowl & a chair - Still as there is a stove for a fire & electric light, it isn't at all bad. The floor is a bit hard, especially so towards morning - Now[?] don't I wish I were fat, so that I had something to act as a cushion between the floor & my bones.

Well old girl how are you getting on. I'd very much like to have a long talk with you but it's out of the question so I must save it all up till I return to Vanc. - if I ever do

My baggage arrived today by Express & the only way I could get it was by paying out 15s/11 which I hope to collect from the Gov't but the Gov't are not partial to paying just at present - still it was necessary to get the stuff so I paid & did a little more cursing.

I'm still up to my eyes in work & I'd just give anything to have you & your typewriter here to clear up the work in the shape of letters & lists of men.

Give my love to your Father & Mother & lots of love to yourself & also a kiss for Xmas with or without the mistletoe.

A very merry Xmas & a happy New Year to you dear old girl

Yours

Bertie

Did you get my letters - one telling you about joining the Canadian Military school as a lecturer & the other telling you about leaving it & going back to Sandling? Write to me 30th Baltn East Sandling.
