June has passed and the end of the war has not appeared yet, so much for your deaf mice. However, things are looking ever so much better, I expect it is worrying Fritz to be pressed on all sides like this, especially as the blockade is being tightened up. What did you think of the usual action? Beatty, Hood and an[?] were spledid. My old ship the "Warrior" has gone, but I am thankful that only one officer was killed. The "Warspite" was wonderful, taking on five ships and being unable to get away. It is a pity that they could not get the battle squadron up in time to cut them off. I am afraid that there seems little chnce of joining action again, as they always choose misty weather to come in and only yse the short waters, of course they are quite right in doing so, being the [?] squadron. I think it is about the last we shall see of them in the open sea. I feel very sorry for the people in the guard that[?], it a very dull job waiting. going on tomorrow.

12:7:16 Nothing of interest, I am sorry to say. We have taken to to having out meals on deck now which is very much cooler. We had a dinner party last night, which put rather a stain on our working arrangments. I cannot think of any more of interest.
