My dear Dodie

Your letter came some days ago, and we have really had such a strenuous time lately that I could not get settled down to writing, however, we are now in rest camp for a few days and will soon be well rested again. This war is certainly hell Dodio, and I wish to heavens it was over and what is left of us could go back where everything is quiet and peaceful.

Poor Monro was killed last week and weel feel badly cut up as he was in our Company and very popular, we were in the trenches when he was buried and we even couldn't get out to pay our last respects. We are as you no doubt know in a very hot part of the line and the
