Feb. rapidly getting blocked with ice. Caught the P.O. train for Boulogne at 3.30 pm. with Col Rae & Scotty Richmond. Amulance train converted - retaining bumps. Had driver at Charleroi.
12. Train 9 hours late arr'd Boulogne at 3 pm & [illegible] boat - Stayed at Hotel Leurice - Much milder here.
13. Fine day. Said goodbye to France - reached Vie Sta. at about 3.30 pm. Stayed at Russell - Great to see [illegible] Uncle at Shaffesbury - very pretty & bright & not coarse though mom bare feminine leg displayed that I ever saw before
14. Reported to Argyll HO & got orders to report at Seaford to 1stCdnResBn on 17th. Went to Bank & found my bal. low. Went to see Dick Gull in hospital after opern for appendicitis. His daughter Anne first born. I had tea with Bea Goschen at 1 Cheque walk. Had dinner with Major A.S.G. & Mary Bell & found Monty Bridgeman there. Saw Nancy Roberts in pm. & heard teh Herlands news.
15. Went to Carleton & arr'd 5 pm. Being delayed in Norwich enjoyed a visit to Cathedral & a service . Cathedral refreshing after smell & tawdriness of continental churches . Found Uncle & [illegible] well
