Nov 18. Col Spry went to Eng on duty & I took over his work as well as my own. Very busy in consequence. MONS Beffroi very reliable & the chimes the most beautiful I have ever heard. Unforgettable.
21. Div. moved to GOSSELIES a mining town of about 10,000. I travelled in side car through Chanleroi greatly to announcement of waiting crowds.
Had a long conversation with Mlle Louise THULIEZ of 3q Rue d'Artois LILLE who with her companion (a sweet looking girl) were condemned to death with EDITH CAVELL. By intercession of King [illegible] their sentence was commuted to 10 yrs imprisonment from wh. they had just been relieved by the armistice. Edith Cavell was shot.
