people of Arras was entirely destroyed & the Church which was just beside our H.Q. was only a mound of dust & rubbish.

This was a pretty hot spot for an enemy artillery had a great fancy for it. Enemy aeroplanes also were active. [illegible] put on 1 hour as midnight.

Mch 25. Tuesd. Visit from 20 [illegible] Officers. 1 was killed at the door of our H.Q. (Hogarth of K.O.S.B.). I had a bath to the time of bursting shells - rather a nervous performance & an extraordinary place for a bath.

Mch 26. Have come out to [illegible] lines had a bad night - feeling sickly. Prosecuted at a FGerm. Walked back.

Mch 27. Evening presented us with 132.5. ge Pres in am - Sleeting.

28. Raid by 27 Bn on our front & some activity on both sides. Major Reynolds turned up.

29. Relieved 27th Bn on front line complete about 2 am. Major Latta reached Bn H.Q. in Parallel 9 at 3.40 a.m. No casualties but considerable anxiety
