I had an amusing drive through the storm today in a farm wagon smelling strongly of fish & manned by three girls - one a Belgian one from Lille (still in German hands) and one from Bapaume, only recently taken from the Germans + practically obliterated. Now I am putting in the night waiting for an early morning train & I am fortunate in having a comfortable place to wait instead of the shelter of a ledge. There is the first comfortable chair I have sat in since my last leave. Easy chairs seem to be unknown out here in even the best billets. And now goodbye.

With love to all & dearest love to you from your best second son

Arthur
