OFFICERS REST HOUSE AND MESS

My dearest Mother

Though I am still in France I am on my way to England on leave. It is very stormy weather, blowing a whole gale with bursts of rain.

Fortunately the fine weather held till we were out of the trenches. My plans are not made for my leave; indeed everything about leave is so uncertain that one does not make plans, and I have yet to cross the Channel. This time I want to see Wats at home - Carleton certainly - Leamington I think not + probably Barnardiston not though I may go to Ipswich where they live.
