My dear brother

Thank you for your long letter about Harry. These cases are a mystery. What I notice from his letters is that on certain lines he is quite undeveloped and during the whole time that we have been separated there has been no change in this respect so far as I can perceive.

There is I believe a physical defect somewhere if it could only be placed. Its probable locality is in the brain or in some part immediately acting on the brain.

I am led to this belief party by finding that no moral or religious influences to which he is susceptible have any effect on this peculiarity. I believe that his deficiencies have a very depressing effect on his character.


By the way it was the Bk of Montreal that answered my letter to the Bank of B.N.A. asking for L75
