I see from the Colonist that Henry Croft is dead. He has had a varied career. I always think of him as running the Chemainus hill with Angus.
So Bill Rockford has turned up - he is a bit of a rotter. I am afraid D'Oyly is rather better & Henry the black sheep is turning out quite well as a N.C.O.
This last job the Canadians had is one of the few cases I actually know of where there was actual hand to hand fighting & lots of it. We fought with German weapons almost as much as our own. German machine guns, trench mortars
